Community Generosity Makes the World Brighter for Our Patients and Families During the Holidays

The holidays were a little bit brighter for some Valley families this year, thanks to some extremely generous donations from our community! On Dec. 22, kids in our Children’s Therapy program got to pick out some pretty cool presents, thanks to Fort Lewis’s Toys For Tots. Overheard at our toy giveaway: children saying “Best day ever!” “Best day of my life!” and “My dreams came true!”

Sgt. Steve Aguilar of Toys for Tots says, “After five years of volunteering for Toys for Tots and as father of two boys, nothing brings me more joy and satisfaction than witnessing the excitement kids get when they get their toy. This year’s partnership with Valley Medical Center further reinforced the importance of Marines serving their communities by bringing joy to kids during a tough period in their lives. I look forward to this being an annual partnership.”

We are so grateful to the U.S. Marine Corps at Fort Lewis—and judging by the smiles on these kiddos’ faces, they were too! Toys for Tots donated 450 toys with an estimated value of $5000. Watch the video on Facebook.

We are also thankful to the Starbucks Kent roasting plant who donated toys and infant items to our Birth Center, NICU and Peds/Mother-Baby units.
