This summer marks an exciting milestone for surgical care at Valley Medical Center & Clinics.
Valley is upgrading all our robotic operating rooms with the newest generation of surgical robots while expanding from two to three robotic systems. Once installation is complete in August, Valley will increase robotic surgery capacity by 50%, helping more patients receive minimally invasive surgery close to home.
Robotic-assisted surgery allows specially trained surgeons to perform many procedures through smaller incisions with enhanced precision, flexibility, and visualization. Depending on the procedure, patients may experience less pain, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays, smaller scars, and a faster recovery than with traditional open surgery.
While technology continues to evolve, one thing remains the same: every robotic procedure is performed by an experienced surgeon. The robotic system never makes decisions or performs surgery independently. Instead, it translates the surgeon’s hand movements into highly precise movements of specialized instruments.
Valley’s Robotic Surgery Program has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an accreditation that recognizes programs demonstrating the highest standards for patient care, education and quality outcomes. The newest robotic platform enhances that award-winning program with improved visualization, greater computing power, advanced analytics and technology designed to support surgical precision and patient safety.
Throughout July and August, Valley surgeons and operating room teams are completing extensive training before each new system enters service, ensuring a seamless transition for patients.
