Did you know that Valley Medical Center has a Clinical Research department? The Clinical Research team prides themselves on providing access to the same groundbreaking clinical trials and research studies as those seen at larger medical institutions, right here in South King County. Research opportunities at Valley are in a variety of areas of study, including, but not limited to cancer, epilepsy, stroke and COVID-19.
At the heart of the program is a focus on cancer studies. Through Valley’s collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Valley has access to an extensive network of clinical trials. When a patient decides to take part in a clinical trial, the clinical research team coordinates evaluations and care with the patient’s care team. Depending on the trial and the patient’s diagnosis, they are many departments throughout Valley that the research team may coordinate with, including the infusion center, radiology, laboratory, cardiopulmonary testing and specialty clinics to collect and abstract data as directed by the study. Every step of the way, the patients are monitored for progress, symptoms and potential side effects, ensuring their well-being remains at the forefront.
The Clinical Research team is currently recruiting patients for studies on lung cancer screening, COPD treatment and chronic fatigue in breast cancer patients; flyers for each are linked below. For more information on the studies, contact research@valleymed.org or 425.690.3503.
