Valley Medical Center Pride Flag Raising

Today staff at Valley—along with the other UW Medicine Hospitals—raised the Pride flag to show our support for the LGBT communities we serve and to increase community awareness of UW Medicine’s commitment and competency in addressing LGBT healthcare issues, access and care.
The rainbow Pride flag—which will fly during Pride Week (June 20-26)—is a symbol of LGBT acceptance and is displayed across the world as a sign that everyone, regardless of where you come from or who you love, is deserving of respect, inclusion and acceptance.

We are particularly proud of this now annual occasion because last year Valley—along with the other UW Medicine hospitals—was the first healthcare system in the country to fly Pride flags in unison during Pride Week.

All four UW Medicine hospitals have been recognized as Leaders in Healthcare Equality, a unique designation that acknowledges healthcare institutions doing the best work in providing equal care for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans and fostering a work environment that treats everyone equally.
