We’re extremely proud of this designation, and remain committed to serving all our patients with the utmost dignity and the best care possible. VMC was one of a select group of healthcare facilities nationwide to be named Leaders in Healthcare Equality. Facilities awarded this title meet several key indicators for equitable care, including nondiscrimination policies for LGBT patients and employees, a guarantee of equal visitation for same-sex partners and parents, and LGBT health education for key staff. UW Medicine hospitals Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center and Northwest Hospital & Medical Center have also been recognized as Leaders in Healthcare Equality.
