School is out, the kids are restless, and you’re too tired from work to think of anything safe and fun to do. Beat the boredom and check out free monthly self- or leader-guided outdoor walks at local parks, sponsored Kent4Health, and Feet First.
There is little worry for planning on these fun walks because everything is arranged for you. All self- guided walks are up to 3 miles roundtrip and take place on either paved or compact trails. Restrooms and parking are easily accessible at each location and your family pet is welcome to join as a walking buddy. To join in the fun, go to the designated park between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., look for the “Kent Walk Event” sign, sign-in, and walk at your own pace and own length of time. A volunteer is present during the walk.
If you don’t want to walk alone, you can join a leader- guided tour with an experienced walk volunteer once a month. Walks are between 2 and 5 miles, depart at 11 a.m. and can take place on paved, compact rock, or dirt surface trails, so sturdy shoes are recommended. This group walks at a moderate pace. The same amenities are available at these walk locations too so you don’t have to worry about kids, the family pooch or parking causing any headaches.
These pre-planned walks are sure to make getting exercise this summer day a little easier so you can just relax and enjoy the scenery. The entire detailed schedule for both self-guided and leader-guided walks can be found here http://bit.ly/2rzVEm0 at the Kent4Health web page or on the feetfirst.org website.
