“I love my job,” says Nephrologist Andrew Brockenbrough, MD, who is recognized by Seattle Met Magazine as a 2016 Top Doc*. The Valley Medical Center Nephrology Clinic physician continues, “It’s a privilege to work with the patients I see. It’s also very humbling to see people in our care overcome their problems and get back to leading healthy lives.”
Nephrologists, like our Dr. Brockenbrough, are medical doctors specializing in kidney care and treating kidney diseases. Nephrologists generally see patients referred by their primary care physicians for problems related to the kidneys, high blood pressure or certain types of metabolic disorders.
Dr. Brockenbrough received his bachelors from Stanford University, his medical degree from Vanderbilt University and his masters in Epidemiology from the University of Washington. He completed both his internal medicine residency and his nephrology fellowship at the University of Washington. He also completed a transplant fellowship at the University of Alabama. Dr. Brockenbrough is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
In his free time, Dr. Brockenbrough enjoys rhododendron gardening, playing the cello with his children’s chamber orchestra, and simply spending time with his wife and three kids.

* The 2016 Seattle Met Top Doctors survey polled doctors, nurses and physician assistants across King, Snohomish, Kitsap and Pierce counties, asking “If you or a loved one needed medical care, whom would you choose?” Voters nominated their peers based on the provider’s level of experience and competency within their specialty, rapport with patients – including patient satisfaction and compliance with care recommendations – and ability to work effectively with colleagues across specialties to deliver the best care for patients.
