EFFECTS OF OBESITY ON SURVIVORSHIP OF UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

A study presented at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons in Dallas, Texas, November 2009, revealed a 20% failure rate at 7 years postoperatively for obese individuals as defined by a body mass index of greater than 30. This high failure rate at midterm follow-up would argue against the use of unicompartmental replacement in the obese individual.

    here in Philippines, obesity is also becoming a problem. More and more children are getting obese due to a lifestyle that is not fully of physical activities. most kids just wants to watch TV, play computer games and surf the net.
