At noon on June 1, amid great cheers and clapping, Valley proudly raised the Pride flag for the 11th time. Speakers included Valley CEO Jeannine Erickson Grinnell, as well Dan Brelsford, MD, Valley’s LGBTQIA+ Clinical Advisory Committee co-chair and medical director.
Here’s an excerpt of what Dr. Brelsford had to say: “… this year’s theme is ‘Universal Love.’ To us that means everyone is deserving of love and its positive effects radiate universally. The LGBTQIA+ community is a diverse mix of not only sexual orientation and gender identity, but also, age, race, ethnicity, and differing mental and physical abilities. The diversity of these attributes should be celebrated, not only this month but all year long. We are thankful for the opportunity to care for our diverse community and it is always our goal to make everyone feel seen, heard and accepted. When we say we care for our community like family, we mean every member of our family deserves equitable care.”
