Respiratory Services Gets New PFT Booths, Helping to Build More Equitable Care

Valley’s Respiratory Services is excited to announce that they recently upgraded their Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) booths. Pulmonary Function Testing is a group of tests that measure how well your lungs work. These tests help clinicians diagnose lung conditions, monitor symptoms, assess how treatments are working, and perform other lung assessments. A great feature of this new equipment is that it has no weight limitations, unlike the prior equipment used. This means that all patients, regardless of their weight, can now undergo thorough and accurate respiratory testing.

Another major change is the use of new standards for assessing patients’ lung function. These new standards are more accurate because they use data from many different racial and ethnic groups. Dr. Stefanie Núñez, MD, with Valley’s Pulmonary & Sleep Disorder Clinic explained that this improvement will help ensure that patients with lung conditions are accurately identified and can receive the appropriate treatment. This upgrade is one of the many ways Valley is committed to providing accurate testing for the diverse population of patients we see.
