Patients to the Cascade Primary Care and Sports Medicine Clinics have a fun way to pass the time while waiting for their appointments—they can vote on their favorite festive pumpkin, decorated by clinic staffers. 16 staff members participated in the contest, both individually and as teams. The only guideline was that the pumpkins could not be carved, and as you’ll see in the photo above, the team used an array of materials in their entries.
Clinic Manager Kris Nakanishi says “This has created a lot of team camaraderie and spirit and our patients are just loving it!”
The pumpkin decorating contest is the latest in a busy calendar of team building activities the Cascade and Sports Medicine teams host throughout the year. This past summer, they held a provider-funded get together on Vashon Island. Additionally, they hold monthly potlucks, regular lunchtime walking groups, and hosted a scavenger hunt around the hospital campus. Their clinic party planning committee has many other activities in the hopper including a “thankful cup” recognizing team members doing nice things for each other and a birthday buddies program.
