Starting Nov. 9, Valley Medical Center will activate two-step verification for all MyChart accounts. This extra layer of security helps ensure your personal health information stays protected. This feature will help keep your MyChart account more secure by adding a quick step to the login process to confirm that it is you.
When two-step verification is turned on, there are two steps to logging into MyChart:
- First, you will enter your username and password.
- Second, you will enter a code (six numbers) that will be sent to you by email or text.
It is common for organizations that deal with personal information to use two-step verification. This helps make sure that your account and medical records stay safe, even if your password is stolen.
How it works: When you log in using your username and password, a single-use code will be sent to you either by text or email. You will enter this six-digit code to complete the login process. When this feature is turned on, you will need a new code each time you log in to MyChart.
How to set up two-step verification: The next time you log in to your MyChart account after Nov. 9, you will choose to get a six-digit code either by text or email. If you are using the MyChart app, do not close MyChart while you wait for the code. Otherwise, you will need to start over again. After the initial set-up, you will choose to get a new six-digit code by text or email each time you log in to MyChart.
