Lifestyle Medicine Plants the Seed for Future Caregivers

On Jan. 18, four members of our new Lifestyle Medicine teams in Covington and Maple Valley had the privilege of participating in Future Ready Day at Summit Trail Middle School in Maple Valley.  Keith Boyd, PT, and Tomi Johnson, OT, CHT, and exercise specialists Nick Croll and Pat McWilliams, spent the morning with students sharing with them a typical day in the life of a PT/OT, the schooling needed to earn their degrees, and the skills needed to work in the field, specifically collaboration, communication and compassion.

When asked about the event, Keith replied, “These kids are the future of healthcare and it was rewarding to be able to expose them to our field, and explain how important our role is in wellness, prevention and recovery.”
