A Friendly Volunteer with a Wagging Tail Can Make All The Difference to a Patient or Family

Did you know pet-assisted visits are returning to Valley? Ellie, a new volunteer and Therapy Dogs International-certified pet visited the hospital with her human companion, Karen. The two met with General Medicine Assistant Nurse Managers, Trevor Lanz and Charlene Espinoza, as well as with several delighted patients.

Ellie’s visit is part of Valley Medical Center’s active recruitment of TDI-certified therapy dogs. Pet-assisted visits not only have the potential to provide health benefits to patients, but staff and visitors enjoy them too. Pet-assisted visits can comfort, bring a smile and a sense of optimism to those who enjoy our four-legged friends.

If you know of someone with a TDI-certified dog who is looking for a place to volunteer, please let them know Valley is growing our program and put them in touch with Grace Dalrymple, Manager of Volunteer Operations.
